Prince Portrait in Gray Hat & Suit, Los Angeles, 2006

This intense portrait of Prince was taken in his Beverly Hills home on the set of the music video for "Black Sweat", and was apparently a favorite of his. In his book, Prince: A Private View, Afshin writes, "The eyes of a man who has seen and gone through so much, but still has so much to give. This image resonated with Prince; he seemed to really like it. I believe this is how he saw himself, and how others saw him later in his career--as a mature artist."
