Women's Vietnam Day Committee March (No On The Travel Ban), Oakland, 1965

Jim Marshall (1936 - 2010)

By 1965, the Committee for Non-Violent Action merged with Vietnam War protesters so the peace symbol became synonymous with the growing desire to end the war. Jim Marshall had been documenting the evolving counter-cultural movements in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area for several years by this time and had a keen eye for this transition of cultural opinion across generations.
