The Band, Stage Fright Album Artwork, Woodstock, NY, 1969

Norman Seeff

Seeff was assigned his first big gig - to shoot liner-note art for the Band's Stage Fright album in 1969. He got lost on the way to Woodstock and arrived an hour late. "By the time I'm there, the band is really pissed off," he recalls. Because he couldn't afford to buy more film, the session only lasted an hour.

Two weeks later he learned a photo from the session was going to become a wrap-around poster. "And suddenly I have an image in every bar in town. Every club. Every record store".

Each image is produced in an edition of 50 prints with 5 Artist Proofs. Within this edition of 50, prints can be ordered in a number of different sizes from 16 x 20 to 53 x 77. Prices increase as the photographs sell.
