Abbey Road Outtake (AB3), London 1969

Iain Macmillan

The Beatles' super-iconic Abbey Road album cover is arguably the most often imitated photograph in history. This image is one of the five outtakes that were shot that same day, it is the last in the sequence of attempts at getting the perfect cover shot.

'I remember we hired a policeman to hold up traffic while I was up on the ladder taking the pictures. The whole idea, I must say, was Paul McCartney's. A few days before the shoot, he drew a sketch of how he imagined the cover, which we executed almost exactly that day.

This is a rare signed photograph. They are sold out and occasionally available from private sellers. Please inquire for details.
