Author Ken Kesey, best known for his novels One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Sometimes A Great Notion, relaxes on the floor of his home in Springfield, Oregon. Kesey was one of the more prominent counter-cultural figures. He also was a pivotal link between the "beat generation" of the 1950s and the "hippies" of the 1960s.
