In the name of African-American voting rights, 3,200 civil rights demonstrators, led by Martin Luther King Jr., began a historic march on Sunday, March 21, 1965 from Selma, Alabama to the state capitol in Montgomery. By the time they reached their destination, they were 25,000-strong.
