Michael Ward

b.1929 - d.2011
An acclaimed photo-journalist, Michael Ward took his photographs of The Beatles as a commission for the Sixties magazine, Honey. Aside from one or two frames, the photography lay unseen for four decades, such was the frantic pace of his career.

"When you go on a shoot as a press photographer you do a group of pictures, choose the ones that you think are worth printing and forget the rest and that's what happened here." - Michael Ward

He would go on to enjoy a colorful 30-year career with the Sunday Times, creating photo stories in the world of business, as a war correspondent, behind-the-scenes in theatre, and in fashion.
